Survey only lost but not Congress in Warangal: Shankar Rao

Congress senior leader and former minister Dr P Shanker Rao has made it clear that the Congress did not lose by-election in Warangal, but only its candidate Survey Sathyanarayana lost the election.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Shankar Rao opined that Survey Sathyanarayana lost election only because he was a non-local candidate. He also reminded that Survey had lost his deposit even in the Malkajgiri parliamentary election last year. He pointed out that the Congress got one lakh votes less in the by-election when compared to general election held in 2014. The shocked TPCC leaders said they didn’t expect such a drubbing in Warangal. The election result revealed that about 2.7 percent of Congress votes went to TRS. (NSS)
