Subramaniam is compromising his position: Justice (Retd.) Sodhi

New Delhi: Justice (Retd.) R.S. Sodhi on Tuesday lashed out at former solicitor general Gopal Subramaniam for seeking best officers from the Centre in the DDCA scam probe and said that the latter is merely compromising his position and drawing power from a totally illegal notification.

“I think Gopal Subramaniam is merely compromising his position. He is drawing his power from a totally illegal notification. Let the governments fight. Why should you become part to it?” Sodhi told ANI.

“Gopal Subramaniam has no power to write this letter to NSA Doval. He is merely compromising his position. Commission is a non-starter and has no legal sanctity. This is not what I expected from Gopal Subramaniam,” he added.

Subramaniam had earlier written to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval asking for man power to investigate the Aam Aadmi Party-alleged irregularities in the DDCA during Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s tenure as president of the body.

Subramaniam has asked for five men each from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Delhi Police to constitute a Special Investigative Team (SIT) that would investigate the matter further.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and demanded his apology after a three-member report on the alleged DDCA scam did not mention Jaitley’s name.

The report of the three-member Enquiry Commission set up by the Delhi Government to probe the affairs of the DDCA does not mention Jaitley ‘s name.

The 247-page document points to issues relating to the reconstruction of the Kotla stadium like alleged irregularities in the construction of corporate boxes, but does not speak of any financial embezzlement during Jaitley’s tenure. (ANI)
