Strict action against trouble-makers: Akhilesh on law & order

Lucknow: Criticised by Opposition and the Governor over “poor” law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said maintaining law and order was the top priority of his government and “there will be no compromise on this”.

Yadav directed officials to identify those involved in creating tension and take strict action against them.

In meeting held to review the law and order situation, Yadav said, “Those involved in creating tension in the state should be identified and strict action should be initiated against them.”

“Maintaining law and order is the top priority of the state and there will be no compromise on this. District Magistrates and police chiefs are responsible for maintaining law and order,” Yadav said.

Stating that night patrolling should be increased and rural areas should also be taken care of, Yadav emphasised on direct communication with people to assess the ground reality.

Yadav said the state government has taken a number of steps to modernise the police and new recruitments have also been done.
