Stop deceiving nation, show courage: Congress tells PM Modi

New Delhi, Oct. 14 : The Congress Party on Wednesday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remark that the Centre can’t be held responsible for the Dadri case or cancellation of Pakistani Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali’s concert in Mumbai, saying he should show some courage and stop deceiving the nation.

“The Prime Minister is responsible for the lives of his countrymen; it seems he is running away from his responsibilities. Will Prime Minister tell this country what steps his government has taken against his ministers like Mahesh Sharma and Sanjeev Balyan who tried to divide the society when they visited Dadri,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told ANI.

“Prime Minister Modi should stop deceiving the people and show some courage and act,” he added.

The Congress leader also countered Prime Minister Modi’s remark wherein he accused the opposition parties of playing politics of polarisation.

“The Prime Minister should know who is responsible for playing the politics of polarisation. Sangeet Som and Mahesh Sharma are the leaders of BJP and not Congress. Is he unaware that in Maharashtra, the government is of the BJP, where the concert of Ghulam Ali was cancelled and Sudheendra Kulkarni’s face was painted black,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi has said that he or his party BJP does not support incidents like the lynching of Mohd. Akhlaq at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh on beef rumours or even the cancellation of proposed musical programme of Ghulam Ali.

In an interview to a Kolkata-based daily newspaper, he said his party or the Centre has had no role in the two unfortunate incidents.

Prime Minister Modi blamed the opposition for trying to use these sad incidents and indulging in politics of polarisation. (ANI)
