Stop blaming police, respect women: Bassi tells Bharti

New Delhi, Sept. 16 : Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi on Wednesday said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Somnath Bharti must stop blaming the police, and instead, he should respect women.

“There was no abetment from the police side. I advice Somnath Bharti that rather than putting allegations on his wife and the Delhi Police, he should respect women,” Bassi told media here.

“Somnath Bharti is putting baseless allegations on the Delhi Police. This is a harassment case against him by his wife,” he added.

Bassi further said, “Our effort for mediation failed and the only way left is the course of law. If police had anything against Somnath Bharti, then it would have immediately filed an FIR against him.”

Somnath Bharti on Wednesday rubbished the domestic violence case filed against him by his wife Lipika Mitra and said that he has audio and documentary evidence which would reveal the truth.

Bharti further said that he was not hiding and added that he was only attempting to save himself from the Delhi Police which is acting on the orders of the Centre.

The AAP MLA is facing a non-bailable warrant against him in a domestic violence and attempt to murder case filed by his wife. (ANI)
