Sri Lanka president appreciates China for developmental assistance

Colombo: Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has deeply appreciated China’s assistance in the development of the island nation.

According to the Colombo Page web site, President Sirisena told a visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China that Sri Lanka expects China’s fullest cooperation in eliminating poverty in the country.

The Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Baowen was among the visiting delegation to Sri lanka.

He also thanked them for the continuous assistance in international fora.

The meeting has come as a positive step after the Sirisena government had suspended several Chinese mega infrastructure projects including US$ 1.4 billion Colombo Port City Project alleging corruption. (ANI)
