‘Smart Cities’ selection was done in transparent manner: Venkaiah Naidu

Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday claimed that the selection of Smart Cities was done in a transparent manner. He said out of 100 selected cities, 20 would be developed in the first phase.

The Union Minister was speaking after launching the Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojna in Warangal on Sunday. Under the scheme, he said that the Central Government would ensure safety and restoration of heritage monuments. He said that the Centre would provide Rs. 500 crore to protect heritage structures in 12 cities across India.

Venkaiah Naidu also unveiled the pylon of Hriday Scheme at Thousand Pillar Temple at Hanamkonda.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, MPs Seetharam Naik and G. Sudha Rani, MLAs Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Vinay Bhaskar, District Collector Taruna and Greater Warangal Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed. (INN)
