‘Silent’ PM Modi failed to fulfill his promise, says Rahul Gandhi

Begusarai, Oct.7 : Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi maintains a silence when anything goes wrong and criticised him for not fulfilling his promises made to the nation during the general elections last year.

Gandhi, who was addressing a rally at the Ayodhya Tola Ground in Bachhwara here for the Bihar Assembly polls, highlighted the Lalit Gate to target the Prime Minister.

“Modi ji had said that he will neither take bribe nor allow anyone else to do the same.

Some days ago, I raised this issue in the Parliament. I mentioned how Sushma Swaraj helped (former IPL boss) Lalit Modi and the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s son took money from Lalit Modi. I spoke about the Vyapam scam. But Modi ji said nothing,” he said.

The Congress vice-president also said that Prime Minister Modi is least concerned about the welfare of farmers.

“Modi ji had said that he would increase the Maximum Selling Price for farmers. But farmers in Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Maharashtra and Karnataka are committing suicides,” Gandhi said.

“Modi ji went around the world. I saw no picture in which he was standing with a farmer or a labourer or an unemployed youth,” he added.

Gandhi also challenged Prime Minister Modi’s assertion that he would bring back the black money after coming to power.

“Before the elections, Modi ji said that Rs. 15 lakh will be added to the bank accounts of each Indian. Is there any Indian who has got this amount?” he asked.

The Congress has joined hands with the RJD and JD (U) in Bihar.

Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5.

The counting of votes will take place on November 8.

The term of the current Bihar State Assembly expires on November 29.(ANI)
