Should Cow be declared national animal replacing Tiger? – Haryana Minister conducts online poll

Haryana: Health Minister of Haryana State, Anil Vij started an online poll to seek the opinion of the people whether Cow should be declared national animal instead of Tiger.

So far, 329 persons responded to his poll, out of which 88% said “Yes” and 12% “No”.

Anil Vij justified his stand by saying that there is a need to protect cow whereas tiger can save itself. If cow is declared national animal, then there won’t be any need for the separate law to protect it.

In March 2015, Haryana Govt. passed “Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Bill” which makes a provision for 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Re. 1 lakh for a person who slaughters cow.
