‘Shed arrogance to run Parliament’: Congress to BJP

New Delhi : The Congress Party on Wednesday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to run Parliament despite having a mandate in the Lok Sabha, saying ‘the party needed to shed their arrogance and politics of vendetta, if they want the house to function’.

“Despite having a huge mandate in Lok Sabha, they ( NDA) have been unable to run the Parliament. The reason behind it is the arrogance and vendetta of the Government,” said Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

“If the BJP Government wants Parliament to function, then they have to give up the politics of vendetta and arrogance,” he added.

The senior Congress leader further took a jibe at the ruling dispensation over its foreign policies on Pakistan.

“They blamed us for serving Biryani to our Pakistani counterparts and now non-veg curry, along with Biriyani and sweets are being served. Now they are meeting whole family including mother, daughter, and other family members,” he said.

“First they said that terror and talks can’t go hand in hand, but terror activities have increased in last six months in Kashmir,” he added.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu had earlier slammed the Opposition for not letting the Parliament function; saying just concluded Winter Session became the victim of strategy which was aimed to paralyse it.

“The nation is disappointed in the manner in which the Parliament functioned in the Winter Session. The nation needs to be given an explanation by the Congress as to why they did not let the Rajya Sabha function,” Naidu told the media here.

Meanwhile, both the houses were adjourned sine die today. The Congress lawmakers continued to disrupt the proceedings over the alleged irregularities in DDCA, demanding the resignation of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. (ANI)
