Sharif assures action against Pak terrorist groups

Karachi: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who have US President Barack Obama agreed to take effective action against all terrorist groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba.

In a joint statement after the meeting, Pakistan agreed to take action against all Taliban groups, including the Haqqani Network and have assured that extremist groups ‘are unable to operate from the soil of Pakistan,’ reported the Dawn.

President Obama condemned the 16th December attack in an army school in Peshawar by Tehreek-i-Taliban, which killed over 140 children.

According to the national daily, Obama acknowledged Pakistan’s key role in countering terrorism and recognized sacrifices by the country’s security forces for confronting terrorism and militant groups.

They also discussed the importance of continued cooperation against terrorists and violent extremist groups.

The Prime Minister also discussed the Operation Zarb-i-Azb and other operations with Obama which have decreased the ability of militants to execute terrorist attacks in Pakistan. (ANI)
