Selfless teacher becomes victim of Education Dept.’s hostility

At a time when commercialization has crept into every field possible and teaching is no exception, Rizwana Begum has been rendering voluntary services for the past two years. Rizwana Begum is the daughter of Abdul Hafeez a labourer resident of Aalampur, Mahboob Nagar district. She teaches Urdu in Govt. Girls’ High School, Aalampur. She doesn’t belong to a well-off family; her father is a daily wage earner, a construction worker, who gets Rs. 200 for a day, that too when he gets work. Her mother makes beedi and gets Rs. 50 daily. However since the factory has been closed down this source of income was also stopped.

Rizwana has done B.A. B.Ed and is teaching Urdu in Govt. High School, Aalampur, Mahboob Nagar District. She told that she has been teaching in the school for the past two years from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm without any remuneration. She has recently applied for Vidya Volunteer post but her name was not included in the final list. It seems that educational department has adopted hostile attitude towards this selfless teacher.

Impressed by her services Founder and President Telangana Minority Welfare Sangam M A Rauf Khan has decided to give grant of Rs. 2000 per month to Rizwana Begum. But the fact is Rizwana Begum doesn’t need a temporary help but a permanent employment. Rizwana hopes that after publication of this report in Siasat, Education Department authorities would come into action and atleast she would be appointed as Vidya Volunteer.
