SEC appeals voters in GHMC limits to enroll their names

State Election Commissioner V. Nagi Reddy appealed the electors of the twin cities to enroll their name / corrections if any can be made in the electoral rolls till the notification issued and requested all the Residential Welfare Associations / Nongovernmental Organization to play a vital role to conduct the ensuing GHMC elections.

The SEC and I&PR Department Commissioner Navin Mittal, along with the representatives of non-governmental organisations, Residential Welfare Association held a review meeting on Voter awareness held at State Election Office on Monday.

The State Election Commissioner requested the NGOs and Residential Welfare Association to take up voter awareness campaigns in their respective colonies so that every elector must come forward to participate to cast his vote for the coming ensuing GHMC election.

Navin Mittal said that to increase the voting percentage he has requested the officials concerned to see that voter slips be given to the electors and also necessary information be given to them through SMS/email so that the electors percentage will increase, he suggested. The representatives said that in the year 2009 in the GHMC elections around 48% of voting was there and in earlier elections there was about only 30% was recorded for which the RWS and NGOs have assured the Commissioner that they will coordinate and awareness campaigns will be taken up and see that the voting percent will be increase for these GHMC elections.
