Minority Welfare Department has decided to assign the responsibility of verifying and clearing the pending applications of Shaadi Mubarak Scheme to Mandal Revenue Officers (MROs). Orders are likely to be issued soon in this connection.
It must be recalled that after the complaints of several irregularities in the implementation of ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ scheme a three-member committee, led by Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General Abdul Khayyum Khan, probed the matter and exposed scam of over Rs. 66 lakh.
Police has freezed the accounts of the beneficiaries in which the amount was deposited twice. Although the officials of Minority welfare Department have refused to admit their mistake, however this is not possible without the nexus between Pay and Account staff and concerned officials.
