Saudi women candidates warned not to contact voters directly as it is against of Shariat Law : Election Department

Jeddah: Officials of Election Department in Saudi Arabia issued a warning to all the 366 registered women candidates not to contact the voters directly. They have been advised to appoint their agents.

They also have been told to provide separate sections for men and women at their campaign centers.

In case of violation, a fine of SR10,000 would be imposed. Polling will take place on 12th December and its results will be released the next day.

Election Commission’s Spokesperson, Judiea Al-Qahtani has directed all the lady candidates to obtain permits for their election campaigns and refrain from publishing their photographs which is a violation of Shariah law.
