Saudi Arabia rejected HIV testing of high school female students

Jeddah: Saudi Health Ministry has rejected a project to test female students for HIV despite the report that the disease increases ten times over the past five years.

 

Hanaa Bakhsh, Consultant of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health Hanaa Bakhsh said that despite the approval of various parties including Education Ministry, Health Ministry rejected it which will impact much in combating the disease.

 

According to the report published in Arab News, she further said “After we carried out the first step in the project, which was to promote awareness among female high school students in Jeddah, and informed the ministry and parents of the project, it was put to a stop”.
