Riyadh: After the meeting between US Secretary of State, John Kerry and Saudi King, Salman on Sunday, US State Department said that Saudi Arabia and United States decided to increase the support to Syria’s opposition.
Kerry was in Riyadh to meet Saudi King, Crown Prince, Deputy Crown Prince and Foreign Minister.
This decision was taken in response to Syrian Rebels’ appeal for more military assistance from foreign countries including Saudi Arabia in order to defend Syrian Army. It is to be noted that Syrian Army are backed by Lebanese Hezbollah, Iranian fighters and Russian air strikes.
Already US and Saudi Arabia are providing military assistances to Syrian rebels. These assistances include training by the CIA.
