The sanitation workers of Municipalities, Municipal Corporations and Panchayat Raj, spread across nine districts of Telangana, have threatened to intensify their strike if their demands were not met no immediate basis.

The Joint Action Committee of sanitation workers demanded that the State Government hold talks with the unions, who are on strike. The JAC also demanded that the services of workers, who were removed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, should be restored.

The JAC, in its meeting held here on Saturday, has decided to gherao the residences of MLAs on Sunday. On May 27, the sanitation workers will hold dharna before all District Collectorates. Relay hunger strike will also be launched at all the Circle offices of GHMC on Monday.

The JAC leaders alleged that the State Government was not serious in resolving the issues of sanitation workers.

Meanwhile, the sanitation workers held protest outside the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari in Warangal. (INN)
