Rs 4K crore for 24000 MW power by 2019: KTR

People in the State will get uninterrupted power supply as the government was committed to use its resources and strengths, IT & Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao has said.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, KTR said about Rs 4000 crore will be spent to make Telangana a surplus State in power sector by producing 24000 MW by 2019. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was planning to set up an “Island Power Station” to cater to growing population and power needs, KTR stated. He also said the 18-month old TRS Government was making every effort to transform Hyderabad into a global city and spent about Rs 1920 crore for power alone in the city.

“A scientific approach by the TRS Government surprised many as we succeeded in our efforts to get continuous power by setting up a ring shape power facility. This will help us when Srisailam Hydel project or others gets disrupted”, he said. “We have spent Rs 88 crore to lay a 400 KV power line at a 78 km stretch. To ensure this, seven power sub-stations set up at a cost of Rs 893 crore in May and eight more will be set up by March next at a cost of Rs 692 crore. Nine more power sub-stati8ons will be erected spending Rs 334 crore. We are also providing 30 tmc dedicated waters through Krishna phase III and Godavari waters to Hyderabad”, he added. (NSS)
