Rs 100 cr for Adilabad works: Harish

Some 96 pending works of development, including irrigation and others, are likely to be expedited in Adilabad district soon. The finance department has agreed to release Rs 100 crore for taking up these works and acquire 250 acres of land for the purpose.

During a meeting on pending works, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today held a meeting with Finance minister Eatala Rajender attended by ministers A. Indrakaran Reddy, Mahender Reddy and Tummala Nageshwar Rao.

When Harish Rao sought release of funds to irrigate some 96,000 of acres in the district by next Kharif, Rajender asked the officials to release funds to Adilabad Collector for taking up the works. The ministers agreed to a proposal to handover works of new estimations to chief engineers and also decided in the meeting to cancel the present contract works for pendency. The government will take a final call to begin the works only after revised estimates are approved. Harish said several minor irrigation works are pending in the district for 10 years will be taken up now. (NSS)
