RPF personnel crack two crime cases

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Secunderabad and Vijayawada Divisions of South Central Railway have cracked two criminal cases occurred in the Zone.

In an incident o­n Saturday midnight, two notorious criminals were nabbed and the stolen property was recovered by RPF personnel escorting Train no. 16317 Kanyakumari–Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Himsagar Express while passing en route Manikgarh and Balharshah stations. At around 23.10 hrs, two persons committed theft of passenger luggage in the general coach of the train and got down by pulling the alarm chain and forced the train to stop. The alert RPF escorting staff chased the criminals and apprehended them. O­ne bag and seven mobile phones suspected to have been stolen from the passengers were recovered from them and the criminals were handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP), Balharshah.

In another case, the RPF personnel nabbed two drug pedlars. Crime Prevention and Detection (CPDS) team constables P. Krishna, P.A.S. Narayana and K. Satish kept a watch o­n the incoming trains from Visakhapatnam towards Vijayawada following information about ganja smugglers. The team in plainclothes detained two persons – a male and a female of Madurai district in Tamil Nadu who were moving suspiciously carrying brown and blue colour bags. Upon questioning, they informed that the bags contained contraband Ganja.

During the interrogation, the duo revealed that they had purchased the Ganja from Paderu village of Visakhapatnam and had reached Vijayawada Railway Station to further proceed to Madurai. Both of them were handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP), Vijayawada with the bags, containing 24 kg Ganja worth Rs 60,000. The duo was remanded. (NSS)
