Roja arrested at Assembly; shifted to NIMS for leg injury

YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday took serious exception to the alleged atrocious behaviour of police personnel towards his party MLA Roja.

As Roja was whisked away to Nampally police station on Saturday while she attempted to enter the Assembly premises, Jaganmohan Reddy visited the police station and consoled her. There was a mild argument between Jagan and police officials when the former questioned about rude behaviour of the police towards Roja. Jagan questioned the police as how could they arrest Roja, who was not well. Is this the behaviour towards an MLA?

There was tension on the Assembly premises during Roja’s arrest. Jagan took serious objection to the police preventing the suspended members from entering Assembly premises. Though suspended members are not allowed to enter Assembly hall, how could the Marshals prevent them from moving on the Assembly premises?, he asked. The YSRCP members alleged that the police were behaving atrociously towards them.

Jagan said though Roja told the police clearly that she did not come there to stage a protest, but to go to the YSRCP Legislature Party Office, the Mashals shunted her out of the Assembly premises forcibly. He also pointed out that Roja lost consciousness while being arrested and suffered an injury to her leg in the melee. The Nampally police took Roja to the NIMS hospital where she was being treated.
