Rijiju undermining contributions made by Nehru, says Congress

New Delhi: The Congress Party on Sunday lashed out at Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju for his unwarranted criticism of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and alleged that the BJP leader was attempting to undermine the contributions made by great stalwarts of the country
All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Madhu Yaskhi Goud said Rijiju’s remark is ‘deplorable and disgusting’.

“Mr. Kiren Rijiju making such an unfound allegation is only undermining the contributions made by such a great stalwart of the country. He is forgetting the fact that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the home minister under prime ministership of Pandit Nehru,” said Goud.

The Congress leader also lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We urge upon this Modi Government and these ministers who make such speeches which is dividing the country, they should be restrained or they should be removed from the ministry,” he said.

Rijiju had yesterday attacked Nehru of ‘letting people of the northeast down’ during the 1962 India-China war, while accusing the Congress of forgetting the ‘true heroes’ Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
