Rich tributes paid to Prof. Jayashankar on 81st birth anniversary

Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to Telangana ideologue Professor Jayashankar on his 81st birth anniversary here on Thursday.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, ministers, TRS legislators and other leaders garlanded the portrait of Prof. Jayashankar at the Telangana Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy recalled the role played by Prof. Jayashankar in realising the dream of Telangana State. He said turning the new State into ‘Bangaru (Golden) Telangana’ would be the real tribute to departed leader.

Prof. Jayashankar’s birth anniversary was also celebrated in the Assembly premises. Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao and other leaders participated in the event. Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Speaker recalled that Prof. Jayashankar launched a Mulki movement in 1952 and since then he actively participated in the movement demanding statehood for Telangana. He played a major role in formation and strengthening of TRS.

TRS MPs also participated in the celebrations held at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. (INN)
