Revanth talks like ‘Shikhandi’: Rajender

Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender today slammed Telugu Desam leader Revanth Reddy for making “mindless” talk on distribution of fine rice to welfare hostels.

Addressing a press conference at Secretariat here, the minister compared Revanth to ‘Shikhandi’ for his alleged political remarks for mileage. He condemned Revanth’s remarks of distribution of ration rice to the hostels only after polishing them. The government will amend the law to punish severely the officials, contractors of Transport and dealers who involved in alleged irregularities of ration items.

Admitting irregularities at some places, he said vigilance officials were directed to check illegal transport of rice from borders to Karanataka and Maharasthra. So far, 72000 metric tons of rice was seized from illegal hoarders and 2440 cases filed against those involved, Rajender said. “Instead of night time, we are supplying the rice to 3,096 hostels and 34,000 schools during day hours and concerned care takers and head masters can receive the same and reject the same if the rice was not good, he added.
