Revanth Reddy arrested for protest at Kodangal Market Yard

TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy and his supporters were taken into custody by the police when they held protest at Kodangal Market Yard in Mahabubnagar district on Thursday alleging violation of protocol.

Revanth Reddy, along with his supporters, reached the market yard and pulled up the officials for not inviting him to the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new godown. The protest turned tense when police intercepted Revanth Reddy and reportedly asked him to leave the venue. Enraged by it, TDP workers entered into a heated argument and a few of them hurled stone at police vehicles. The police then swung into action and resorted to mild lathicharge. A few media persons were also hurt in the police lathicharge.

Later, police took Revanth Reddy and his supporters into custody and shifted them to Daulatabad Police Station. A few minutes later, several other TDP activists gathered outside the police station and staged dharna demanding release of Revanth Reddy and other workers.

Meanwhile, Industries Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao participated in the bhoomi pooja of the godown at the market yard. (INN)
