‘Retiring’ Clarke says Oz needs to regain lost pride in Ashes finale

Johannesburg, Aug.19 : Outgoing Australian skipper Michael Clarke has expressed his desire to regain some lost pride in the Ashes finale and said that Oval Test would be an assessment of his side’s character.

England have already regained the Ashes after their crushing victories over Australia at Edgbaston and Trent Bridge respectively where the tourists suffered first innings collapses as they failed to adjust to the movement created by green, seaming pitches.

Clarke said that the last Test is as much about their character as anything else, Sport24 reported.

He insisted that the team needs to play with resilience, grit and determination and fight as hard as they can.

He added that what they could do was to try and fight their backsides off and grind their way to victory in the final Test.

The arch rivals will now lock horns in the fifth and final Test commencing in Kennington Oval from Thursday. (ANI)
