Recruitment scam in SCCL: Ponguleti urges KCR to order probe

Congress senior leader and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has demanded that the State government order a CID inquiry into “Recruitment scam” in the State-owned Singareni Collieries and initiate action against those responsible. He also demanded that the government conduct written examination for the posts of junior assistants afresh to render justice to the eligible un-employed youth.

Addressing a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday, Ponguleti stated some 85,000 candidates appeared for a written examination conducted by the Singareni Collieries management on October 10, 2015 for posts of junior assistant. He alleged that the question paper of the examination was leaked, according to a section of the media. Ponguleti said he came to know that the candidates for all the 470 posts of junior assistants have already been selected at the instance of influential political leaders.

He also alleged that two candidates each from 70 families, with same surname, have got the jobs. For example, some 298 successful candidates carry “Thota” surname. Similarly, 165 candidates have “Pothu” and 150 have “Uppu” surnames. He also stated he came to know that Singareni Collieries employees union leader was brain behind the scam. (NSS)
