Real Liberation Day is June 2: HM

Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy has out rightly rejected the demand for official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 and said that the real liberation for Hyderabad and Telangana came only on June 2.

Speaking after hoisting national flag at Telangana Bhavan here on Thursday to mark the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebration, Nayani said that there was no need celebrate the occasion at the official level. He said after getting liberation from Nizam’s rule, Telangana was enslaved by the Andhra rulers. Therefore, the real liberation for the people came only on June 2, 2014, he said.

Nayani admitted that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had demanded official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day while in opposition. However, he later realised that real liberation for Hyderabad came on Telangana Formation Day on June 2 and the same has been celebrated at a grand scale. He said some parties have been trying to disturb the peace and law and order situation over the demand of Liberation Day celebrations. He denied allegations that TRS Government was working under the pressure of MIM. He said that the TRS was a matured party and KCR himself is an experienced politician. He said KCR has been taking right decisions and the same enjoys backing of the entire party. (INN)
