Ravula accuses TRS of misleading people on Water Grid

TDP leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy today alleged that the TRS government was misleading the people saying drinking water would be provided to each house under Water Grid scheme.

Speaking to the media at NTR trust bhavan here on Thursday, Ravula said no concrete work has been done under the Water Grid scheme so far, but the government says it would not seek votes if it failed to provide drinking water to each and every house in the State. He also alleged that the State government was propagating the Water Grid at national and international levels. How can global tenders be called without making any announcement about DPR, the TDP leader questioned.

Taking a dig at the ruling party, Ravula said the State government claiming it was spending Rs 40,000 crore but it would provide drinking water to only 20,000 villages. But as per the government records, previous governments launched 31,344 protected water supply schemes, out of which 16,110 overhead tanks were constructed and drinking water facilities have been provided in 26,739 villages and the remaining 4,000 works under this scheme are under progress in various phases. Only 29 works under this scheme were pending, he added. “The TRS government was showing colour cinema as its Water Grid scheme is only on papers, the TDP leader alleged.(NSS)
