Ranji Trophy: Goa steamroll Tripura as Manisankar Murasingh’s ton goes in vain

Porvorim : Tripura batsman Manisankar Murasingh’s quickfire century went in vain as a clinical Goa outplayed the visitors by 9 wickets in the three-day Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match at Porvorim on Saturday.

The Dheeraj Jhadav-led side finally pocketed 6 points from a win from three games to take their tally to ten as two of their games were drawn. Tripura on the other hand remain winless in three games. It was an easy march for Goa, who reached their 50-run target in 25.1 overs, but will be disappointed to lose a wicket and a bonus point in the process.

Starting on their overnight score of 140 for six, Tripura were bundled for 245 as left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati bagged a fifer to overshadow Manusingh’s 104-run knock. Murasingh put up defiant fight against the hosts as his 101-ball knock was laced with 4 sixes and 12 fours. He also shared a 87-run seventh wicket partnership with Rana Datta (29).

Tripura though had effectively lost the match on the opening day itself after being skittle out for a paltry 61.
Rituraj Singh had bagged three wickets, while Man of the Match Jakati, Parsanth Parameswaran and Darshan Misal had bagged 2 wickets apiece.
