“The notice given to Rajya Sabha chairman is an attempt to pressurise him,” he added. As the Rajya Sabha continued to be disrupted through the third week of the monsoon session, around 30 MPs of the ruling NDA on Thursday wrote to Chairman M. Hamid Ansari to take action against Congress parliamentarians disrupting the proceedings.

However, Chairman Hamid Ansari tried to conduct question hour but could not succeed.

Agarwal again raised the issue. Agitating Congress members shouted slogans against the Modi government. They said: “End dictatorship, End Modishahi.” Amid noisy scenes, Ansari adjourned the house till 2.30 p.m. Earlier, Congress and BJP issued whips to their party MPs asking them to be present in the Rajya Sabha.

“A three-line whip has been issued by the Congress amidst a view within the party that the government may try to slip through some legislative measures,” Congress chief whip in the Rajya Sabha Satyabrata Chaturvedi told reporters outside parliament.

The BJP also issued a whip asking all its members in Rajya Sabha to be present in the house.
