Rahul to meet party MLAs from Punjab

New Delhi: Amid talks of a reshuffle in Punjab Congress, party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will once again meet Congress legislators from the state to take their views on the matter.

Congress sources said Rahul Gandhi will meet the party MLAs from Punjab in two rounds, tomorrow and again on October 12.

The Congress leadership is learnt to be keen on holding another round of consultations with the party leaders from Punjab before taking a final decision on the long pending matter.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has been seeking the replacement of Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa for a long time now, and has repeatedly told the party to take a quick decision in the light of 2017 state elections.

Congress, which wants to do a balancing act through the reshuffle, has been taking its time to meet senior leaders from all factions.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has met several senior Punjab leaders including Capt Amarinder Singh in the recent past.

The party hopes to involve everyone in the reorganization process while giving Capt Amarinder a key role.

The Congress leadership is learnt to be awaiting for Capt Amarinder’s return from abroad before taking a decision.

Meanwhile Bajwa today skipped a key meeting of all state Congress President’s, AICC general secretaries and secretaries to plan the 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru.
