Pvt. university students stop traffic in Dhaka amid protests

Dhaka, Sept. 11 : Thousands of students of a private university in Bangladesh protesting against the 7.5 percent VAT imposed on their “tuition fees” in the current budget have blocked traffic in Dhaka.

According to the Daily Star, the city dwellers suffered immensely as thousands of students’ barricaded key points in Rampura, Mohakhali, Baridhara, Dhanmondi and other areas.

Chittagong and Sylhet saw similar demonstrations.

The protest under the banner of “No VAT on Education” came a day after the police and anti-VAT demonstration of East West University students clashed in Rampura.

At least 35 people were injured in the clash. (ANI)
