Proved: Meat in Akhlaq’s fridge was mutton not beef

Dadri: The forensic report has proven that the meat the mob found in Akhlaq’s fridge last week was mutton, not beef.

On the night of September 28, Police had sent the collected sample of the meat from Akhlaq’s fridge for forensic testing. Preliminary tests had suggested that it was mutton but the police had further sent the sample to another lab in Mathura for a conclusive test.

According to Times of India reports, the conclusive tests also showed that it was mutton and not beef.

Akhlaq’s family had insisted that there was no beef in the house but the mob did not listen to them and Akhlaq was dragged out of his home and stoned to death.

His younger son, Danish, seriously injured during lynching is shifted out of the ICU as he is on the road of recovery but remembers nothing about the lynching.

Akhlaq’s elder son Sartaj works at the Indian Air Force.

The latest development shows how innocent Akhlaq became the target of a baseless rumour and how an incited mob lynched a man who had been living peacefully in the village for over five decades.

The situation in Bishada village is gradually limping back to normalcy with villagers returning back to their routine life.
