Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said he would ensure “people’s participation” in the setting up of the state’s new capital.

He reviewed the preparations for construction work with Capital Region Development Authority officials here today.

Later speaking to reporters here, he announced that the construction work will commence on October 22 this year and will be completed by October 2018.

He said he has instructed officials to meet construction targets and added that all capital region roads would be linked to Vijayawada and Guntur.

He hoped that the new capital would be an investment destination and also have recreational activities to attract foreign tourists.
