Prez asks Indian Trade Probationers to be equipped with latest digital, information technology

New Delhi, Sept. 11 : President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday stated that the role of the Indian Trade Probationers in shaping the economic condition of the country is going to be very significant.

President Mukherjee told a group of probationers of the Indian Trade Service who called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here that they are going to be involved in the formulation and implementation of the Indian Foreign Trade Policy with the focus on promoting exports.

Addressing the probationers, he said they are entering into a very challenging field, adding that they have to constantly update themselves and get equipped with the latest digital and information technology.

“More than ever, in the globalized world of today, we realize the importance of trade. The composition of the trade has also undergone significant change. Export of services from our country has become significant now. However, there is a long way to go,” he added.

The President advised them to keep in mind that in “the globalized world of today, their role has been transformed from being a trade regulator to trade facilitator and, therefore, they will have to play a very important role in the advancement, promotion and facilitation of trade. (ANI)
