‘Present evidence or apologise to Sushma’: Kirti Azad tells Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi Aug 7 : BJP leader Kirti Azad on Friday dubbed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the Lalit Gate as ‘irresponsible’, saying either he should present the evidence to back his claim or tender an apology to her.

“This statement made by Rahul Gandhi is irresponsible. He has leveled some serious allegations on Sushma Swaraj ji. I would request him to either bring evidence supporting his statement or else apologies to Sushma ji and the nation,” he told ANI here.

“If they fail to understand simple Hindi or simple language than definitely a tutor is required,” he added.

The Congress vice-president had earlier accused Swaraj of keeping her ministry in dark on the issue and asked her to tell the nation exactly how much money she received from Lalit Modi so that he stays out of jail.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi had also criticized Swaraj over her clarification on the Lalit Modi controversy, saying she is an expert at ‘theatrics’.

Swaraj had made an emotional statement in the Lok Sabha yesterday, saying she had helped Lalit Modi’s cancer-stricken wife and not the IPL chief.

“I want to know what Soniaji would have done if she was in my place? Would she have let the woman die?” she asked the Congress president.

The External Affairs Minister had also insisted that she had made “no request or recommendation” to the UK Government for Lalit Modi’s travel documents but had left the decision to Britain. (ANI)
