Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded immediate dismissal of Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh from the post for his remarks that farmers were committing suicide due to impotency and love failures.
Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here, Ponguleti said that the Union Minister has insulted the entire farming community with his remarks. He said thousands of farmers have committed suicide due to the wrong policies of the Central Government. Instead of taking corrective steps, the minister has insulted all the farmers by stating that they were killing self for non-agrarian reasons. The statement was also aimed at pleasing the corporates.
Ponguleti also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi tender an apology for Radha Mohan Singh’s derogatory remarks and sack him from the Union Cabinet. Else, he said that the Congress party would launch a massive agitation against the government. (INN)
