Police Crack online shopping notorious cheating gang

On a complaint from Flipkart online shopping agency, the Vanasthalipuram police has nabbed Pulagam Veera Raghava Reddy, aged 25 years, and seized 120 SIM cards of various cell phone service providers using fake IDs and 4 Computer processors, One Seagate expansion and One Seagate back up from the possession of the accused.

The accused Veera Raghava Reddy, resident of Chintal, Rangareddy District and native of Kuthakaluru village of East Godavari District, operated a gang with his family members i,e his elder brother Pulgam Ramchandra Reddy, mother Sitha Rathnam, wife Naga Laxmi and sister-in-law Sindhura, and all conspired together and cheated the Online shopping Multinational companies FLIPKART of around Rs. 20 lakh and AMAZON for Rs 16.17 lakh.

The modus operandi of the accused is that, he usually places orders particularly INTEL processors, Hard disks, other Electronic devices through ONLINE shopping from Flipkart and Amazon companies using various fake e-mail IDs, phone numbers and different addresses and cheated the above companies by placing orders on Flipkart, the Instakart (It’s a Courier supporting agency to Flipkart) delivers the articles to the customer duly received the acknowledge receipt from the customer.

On receiving the article, the gang removes an important component from the article or replaces the article with a duplicate one and further submit complaints to the company that the sent article is substandard/not up to the specifications as they demanded. On verification through their courier boys (Generally the courier boys does not have technical knowledge about the article), the product will be replaced either refunded the money to the accused given account. Likewise, they replaces the article at least two to three times by removing an important component from the article and then lastly sends a request to the company to refund the amount as they were not satisfied with the product. On removing/replacing the component/article further, they sell the same to other customers. Around Rs. 55 lakh they gained by online cheating, out of which he expended 10 lakh for his personal use. The Police freezed the balance Rs.45 lakh and all their Banking transaction accounts. Efforts are continuing to arrest the remaining accused.
