PM’s package to give fresh relief to the flood-hit: Mehbooba

Srinagar: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has said the Jammu and Kashmir government will use the Prime Minister’s Rs 80,000 crore package to give fresh relief to the flood-hit people and revive the process of rehabilitation, reconstruction and economic rejuvenation on a massive scale.

“With the announcement of the fresh Rs 80,000 crore economic package by the Prime Minister, the state government is going to revive the process of rehabilitation, reconstruction and economic rejuvenation on a massive scale and the results will be there for the people to see,” Mehbooba, who is also Lok Sabha member, told PDP office bearers’ meeting here yesterday.

She said the package would not only ensure fresh relief for those affected in last year’s floods, but also bring a turnaround in key sectors like road communication, health, education, tourism, power and urban development with huge resources being made available for new initiatives in these areas.

“I am sure the quantum of resources available for these crucial sectors, would transform the developmental landscape of the state and the people would get the much-needed relief after having witnessed the darkest era of misgovernance and development deficit during the past six years of NC-Congress coalition rule,” she said.

Mehbooba complimented PDP cadres for having successfully carried the party’s political and economic agenda to the grassroots level.

“It is inspiring to note how PDP cadres have and continue to sacrifice their personal interests for the larger objective of ensuring peace, prosperity and dignity of Jammu and Kashmir and its people,” she said.
