PM’s comparison of Jaitley an attack on Advani: Jethmalani

New Delhi: Former law minister Ram Jethmalani on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comparison of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani is an attack on Advani.

“The Prime Minister thinks he is being clever comparing him (Arun Jaitley) to Advani. This is an attack on L.K. Advani. Advani…poor fellow didn’t take up any job,” Jethmalani told ANI.

“Advani resigned till he was let off by courts, and here this man ( Arun Jaitley) what is he doing? He has 100 allegations against him,” he added.

Earlier, in a strong show of support for Jaitley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the former will come through “with flying colours” against charges of corruption levelled against him by the Opposition.

Jaitley had filed a criminal defamation complaint against Arvind Kejriwal and five other leaders of AAP for allegedly defaming him in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) controversy before a Delhi court, which took cognizance on his plea.

Jaitley’s action comes in the backdrop of attacks on him by Kejriwal and other AAP leaders over alleged irregularities and financial bunglings in Delhi’s cricket body, DDCA, of which he was the president for about 13 years till 2013. (ANI)
