PM promises help for release of Telugu men from IS captivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the families of two lecturers of all support to ensure their safe release from the captivity of ISIS militants in Libya.

The family members of kidnapped lecturers – Balram and Gopi Krishna were taken to the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Monday by TDP MPs Mallareddy and Ram Mohan Reddy. Asking the families to have complete faith on Central Government, Modi said he would speak to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for making effective representation with the Libyan Government.

The family members also met Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu seeking his support. They informed him that kidnappers negotiated with a Dean to release another Professor of Karnataka and they were insisting on speaking to the same Dean to release Balram and Gopi Krishna. On learning about this, Venkaiah Naidu immediately called up Sushma Swaraj requesting her to speak to the Dean. (INN)
