Beijing: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his gratitude to two Chinese artists for presenting him with paintings and caricatures during his visit to China in May this year.

“Two Chinese artists, Ms Tian Dan & Prof Yue Yu shared their artwork with me. Grateful to them for the gesture. Ms Tian Dan’s artwork contained an interesting set of caricatures on my visit to Xi’an,” he said in his posts on the popular Chinese social media website Weibo where he has several thousand followers.

“ProfYue Yu, an eminent Buddhist scholar & artist shared a book with many paintings by him. The box Prof Yue Yu shared included a wonderful painting of Lord Buddha & his disciples, on a long scroll,” Modi said.

He also posted pictures of the caricatures and paintings drawn by them which included his meeting with Chinese President, Xi Jinping at the famous Wild Goose Pagoda built to honour Buddhist Monk Xuan Zang’s 17 year long journey to India in sixth century.
