PM Modi praises tech giants for removing social barriers

San Jose: Prime Minister Narendra Modi here today praised the technological giants for reducing the social barriers, saying that internet connects people on the strength of human values, not just identities.
“Social media is reducing the social barriers. It connects people on the strength of human values and not just identities. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are our new neighbourhoods,” said Prime Minister Modi while speaking at the Digital India and Digital Technology Dinner here at the Silicon Valley.

“The status now is not whether you are awake or asleep, it is whether you are online or offline,” he added.

Modi also said that he views technology as a mean to empower people that bridges the distance between hope and opportunity.

Modi added that since his government came to office, they have attacked poverty by using power of network and mobile phones to launch a new era of empowerment.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had met top tech CEOs and chairmen here.

Among the people he met were Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai,

Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, CISCO CEO John T Chambers, Executive Chairman of Qualcomm Paul E Jacob and The Indus entrepreneurs president Venkatesh Shukla(ANI)
