PM Modi meets community leaders in New York

New York, Sept. 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met different community leaders after his arrival here for a five-day US visit.

“Prime Minister Modi met with New Jersey’s heads of different communities, which included the heads of Gujarati communities, heads of Patel community like Ramesh Bhai Patel (chairman of FIA), Veeru bhai Patel, Vasudev Patel who is from Atlanta (vice-president of overseas BJP), Sudhir Pareek who looks after Media matters, H R Shah who looks after TV, Asia,” Chandrakant Patel, President of overseas Friends of BJP told ANI.

“We didn’t have any discussion. Modi ji was standing there and one by one, he shook hands and shared greetings with all of us,” he added.

During his stay in New York, Prime Minister Modi is also likely to call on the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Prime Minister Modi will also be meeting heads and representatives of the Fortune 500 companies. He is expected to push for investments under the ‘Make in India’ programme during these meetings.

In his second visit to the United States, he is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with world leaders, including US President Barack Obama, on the sidelines of the UNGA.
