PM Modi to inaugurate tenth World Hindi Conference in Bhopal on Sep. 10

New Delhi, Aug. 31 : External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday said that the 10th World Hindi Conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 10 in Bhopal.

Swaraj further said that this year’s conference will focus on exploring the possibilities of expanding the influence of Hindi across the world.

“10th World Hindi Conference will be held from 10-12 September in Bhopal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it on September 10th in Bhopal. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will close the conference at 3 pm on September 12….This time the conference will explore the possibility of expanding the influence of Hindi,” Swaraj said at a press conference held here.

She said that the initiatives to organise the World Hindi Conference began in 1975 with first conference being held in Nagpur.

“The first conference was held in Nagpur, second conference in 1976 was held in Mauritius. After that there was a gap and there wasn’t any clarity as to after how many years it should be held. A total of nine Hindi Conferences were held, in two were held in India, two in Mauritius, one in London, one in New York, on in Trinidad and Tobago, one in Surinam and the last one was in Johannesburg in South Africa,” she said.

The External Affairs Minister confirmed that from now on the World Hindi Conference will be held once every three years. (ANI)
