PM Modi, Ansari, CJI, Sonia pay tributes to Suvra Mukherjee

Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India HL Dattu and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were among a host of dignitaries who visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to pay their tributes to President Pranab Mukhejee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee who died on Tuesday.

According to a press release from the President’s Secretariat, the leaders who paid their tributes included union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, JP Nadda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Prakash Javadekar, Smriti Irani and Najma Heptulla.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and West Bengal Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi, Army chief Gen. Dalbir Singh, Navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan, Janata Dal-United leader Sharad Yadav and Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Brinda Karat also visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to pay their last respects.

Suvra Mukherjee died on Tuesday at the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital here following prolonged illness.
