Plebiscite is the only solution to Kashmir issue: Sharif

Islamabad: Holding plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir is the only solution to the Kashmir issue, Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said.

He said this in a letter addressed to the Chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, Radio Pakistan reported today.

Andrabi had earlier sent a letter to Sharif appreciating his role about the Kashmir cause.

Sharif said that Pakistan does not consider the Kashmir issue as a geographical or border issue, but a “dispute” over the implementation of the principle on which the formula of partition of subcontinent was settled in 1947.

He reiterated Pakistan’s stance that Islamabad would continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for right to self-determination, acknowledged by the United Nations.
