Plan to takeover race course: minister

Hyderabad: The State Government was contemplating to take over the Malakpet Race Course in the State capital, according to Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
The minister told mediapersons here that the Race Course management was evading to pay taxes and violating norms. Despite making crores of business, the race course cannot evade taxes, he said. The Government may take over the race course and it is yet to decide whether to run it or hand it over to others. Legal experts are being consulted in this regard, Srinivas Yadav said.
Yadav also disclosed that recently a team of officials conducted raids on the Race Club. Besides seizing over Rs 51 lakh cash, they filed cases against six out of existing 24 bookies for evading taxes, he said. The Government will not spare those avoid paying taxes, he warned. (NSS)
